The Center is now offering a brief, safe and reliable virtual driving test to evaluate the driving skills of any person of driving – or near-driving age, including new drivers and more seasoned drivers. We have partnered with Diagnostic Driving, Inc., who designed the assessment in collaboration with scientists from the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and the University of Pennsylvania (UPENN) to help increase road safety and provide a safe and helpful means to assess driving skills.
This 15-minute, self-guided assessment helps to identify areas of driving weakness by simulating the most common and serious crash scenarios as determined by the National Traffic Safety Administration. With over 10 years of research, the assessment has been validated and shown to differentiate drivers who are skilled vs. unskilled and experienced vs. experienced. This services is particularly beneficial for:
- Assessing learning-to-drive and early driving skill attainment for learners and novice drivers.
- Evaluating skills in learners and newly licensed drivers diagnosed with ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), or other neuro-developmental conditions with symptoms that could compromise driving safety.
- Assessing driving skills in adults and older adults with suspected or known cognitive (i.e., thinking) problems, such as difficulties with memory, processing speed, problem solving, and executive functioning.
The fee for this service is $75 and includes a report. Please contact our office with any additional questions or to set up a screening.
